This summer, Covenant Community Care partnered with Helping Operations for People Empowerment (HOPE)to help reach and administer COVID-19 vaccines to vulnerable populations in Detroit. The initiative is aimed at increasing knowledge of the COVID-19 vaccine with the hope that more folks consider getting vaccinated. Detroit is behind the rest of the state with a ~40% vaccination rate. Covenant worked with HOPE to organize a drive through vaccination clinic at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church and a walk-up clinic at HOPE's headquarters. The Covenant and HOPE Teams also spoke with community members at a meet and greet with District 6 City Council Candidates and planned a back-to-school event in collaboration with at Ark of Deliverance Revival Center.
H.O.P.E. partnered with SouthEast Catholic Charities and CRU Inner City to distribute 1,000 boxes of fresh food and vegetables at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church in Detroit on Wednesday June 17th. Over 25 volunteers from H.O.P.E., Tabernacle and CRU helped unload the boxes and distribute them to over 20 charitable organizations who then distributed them in their own communities around Metro Detroit. H.O.P.E. is looking forward to similar food drives in the near future
